Working During Your Braces Treatment: 5 Tips for Success

Braces are a tried-and-true solution to misaligned teeth. You might’ve started your own journey and are coming up with a routine that works for you. However, you might be worried about taking care of your brackets and wires while you’re at work. This doesn’t have to be a complicated feat. Instead, here are five tips to make it easy.

Don’t Bite Pen Caps or Pencils

While working hard, the ends of your pencils or pen caps might find their way into your mouth. It may be a habit to gnaw on them, but this can break the hardware in your mouth or even your tooth. You can try out a fidget toy, like a stress ball, to keep you distracted.

Have a Water Bottle Handy

Coffee is a staple for many working adults, but this beverage is sugary and acidic. It can lead to stains and cause cavities between your teeth and braces. Keep your cups in moderation and drink plenty of water in between sips. That way, you stay hydrated, wash away dark particles, and neutralize acids.

Bring Lunch from Home

Your diet will need to change with braces. Hard, crunchy, and sticky options can break a wire or bracket, so you should stick to softer options. Finding something at nearby restaurants can be tough, so pack lunch at home. That way, you don’t have to worry about any trouble.

Make a Braces Care Kit

You will need to clean your braces after eating. The right tools can make it simple, and having a designated pouch can be helpful. Consider putting together a small kit with a travel-sized toothbrush, toothpaste, mini mouthwash, floss threaders, floss, and dental wax. Over-the-counter pain relievers and lip balm are a few other items worth having.

Show Off Your Smile

In the end, get started on showing off your smile. A few people might be self-conscious about this treatment, but you’re working hard to get the straighter set of teeth you want. By having a head start on a confident grin, you’ll be able to flaunt it more proudly at the end of your braces journey.
